Jim Allen's Historic Atlantis in Bolivia

Atlantis is a part of a story by Plato which describes various forms of government. In describing his ideal form of government in a theoretical Ancient Athens, Plato mentions that it would be appropriate in his story for ancient Athens to have defeated some worthy enemy in war, and in describing a suitable enemy, he proposes to use a story which he says was originally brought from Egypt. That was the story of Atlantis, an island larger than Libya and Asia combined which lay in the Atlantic Ocean opposite the Pillars of Hercules, but which supposedly disappeared into the sea in a day and night of earthquakes and floods. The Question is This: Is any
part of Plato's description of Atlantis true, or was it entirely made
up? To find the location of Atlantis, it is only necessary to follow three steps from Plato. Step 1. An island larger than Libya and Asia together, located in the Atlantic ocean opposite the Pillares of Hercules. That is South America.Step 2. Midway along the longest coastline of this island, there is a smooth and level rectangular shaped plain, enclosed by mountains and high above the level of the Ocean sea. That is the Altiplano. Step 3. In the centre of this plain, at a distance of 50 stades from an inland sea, a mountain sunk by earthquakes and floods and with concentric channels created by the god, Poseidon. That is the mountain of Atlantis, located at Pampa Aullagas.
